James Bateson: Post

An old recipe book

Yep, that's all this post is. Im taking a pointless post to a new level. But hey, that's what this space is for.

I found an old recipe book whilst searching for some scales in my parents kitchen. I was interested to see what kind of recipes it had in it. My parents are not adventurous easters, they like the good old homely food they grew up eating, often cycling through the same meals.

When I flicked through the book I was filled with joy, it has that much used and loved feel to it. To some maybe dirty, worn and old, but I love the character it has. Give me something like this over the recipe sites that we have, where it's a good amount of scrolling to get past the blog post life story start.

It's kind of got me thinking about what development documentation would be like in this style, maybe this would be how something like jQuery docs would now look?

Photograph of an open recipe book. The pages are slightly stained and crinkled, with dried blobs of food and cup rings on them.
